Even at 43 deg windchill , I wear this and it really works to keep my core warm, allowing me to just wear an FR long sleeve & down vest, more freedom of movement than a bulky coat to work in the field.Ppl around me used this often but designed primarily for male customers. in this newer product, the textile is softer, thinner, & colorful without compromising effectiveness.

Update 4/25/17: I have two of these in purple, one of which I ordered in June 2016. I just noticed that one of them has developed a hole in the middle of the fabric which is really disappointing. I have no idea how it happened. It's still very comfortable but I think that anything I do to try and fix it is going to make it less comfortable and possibly more noticeable since any type of fix (darning, Fray Check, or sewing a small piece of fabric over it) will result in the fabric not being smooth. I hope that the other two I own will last a bit longer.-----I love my purple haramaki! The color is awesome (I would describe it as a bright plum). I'm so happy with it I'm going to have to order more. I bought this in the spring so I've only worn it in spring and fall. I expect it may not be as helpful in a New England winter. I've worn the haramaki during the day and at night and during my period and it's so comfortable sometimes I forget I'm wearing it. Yes, the fabric is thin but that's so it won't be noticeable under your clothing. I'm able to tuck it into my leggings and it doesn't feel uncomfortably tight and it doesn't add any noticeable girth because it's so thin. The haramaki just seems to help trap your body heat. If you're not warmly dressed I would expect this wouldn't help.

Bought these cause I have kidney stones and read that you need to keep kidney warm when it's cold, they keep your abdominal warm in cold months which I love, they are stretchy and you don't notice they are even on, as for getting kidney stones I can't say

I can't yet say how well this works at keeping me warm; the material is pretty thin. I have worn it a few times on days when it was a little cooler and I think it must have helped, as any layer would do something, but not quite what I was expecting for a product designed to keep my middle toasty. I was also wearing it to double as a shirt extender - I love the layered look. For that it was great. My main complaint at this point is that it is too big for me and is constantly sliding down and bunching up under my shirt. In the winter, when I wear layers, I may put it on over my under-shirt to help hold it in place. I should note that I am pretty petite, though I expected it to fit better, judging by the product photos. It doesn't cling to me the way it looks like it would. I did wash and dry it; it didn't shrink.

We thought this item would provide a bit of support for the big belly of an old man. It does nothing of the sort. It is -- as is said -- simply a "belly warmer". Not sure who needs their "belly" warmed -- but that's it. We're trying to figure out how to return it.

I’m Japanese and I can’t live without haramakis (belly warmers). I get sick quickly when I’m not wearing one.I ordered this because I’m pregnant and I don’t fit into most of the ones I already own and I can’t wait for my family to send me one from Japan.This one isn’t too tight or loose on my pregnant belly.By the way, I assume the negative reviews are people who don’t understand the point of haramakis. It’s not supposed to generate heat or replace sweaters during cold weather. You’re supposed to wear it to prevent your stomach or core of your body from getting too cold or getting exposed to cold air. It’s a subtle difference you won’t notice until you wear it for a while. It helps your body organs function more efficiently.(they are sensitive to temperature than most people (Americans) think. Remember what you learned in your biology class and think what the optimal condition is for enzymes and mammalian tissues to function properly).

My stomach is very sensitive to cold. This product provides excellent protection of stomach from cold.

I'm a big guy and it fits well, helps keep stomach warm IF you wear a tank under it and add layers

Just what I needed to keep torso area warm during winter months. Thin enough to wear under clothes without being too obvious.

I have been wanting something to cover my kidneys in the cold Canadian winter for a very long time and glad that I was able to find something that fits around my midriff and stays there. This is not meant to warm your body up, it's meant to keep the body's warmth in thereby indirectly keeping the body warm. As this allows self-regulation of the body, I found I wasn't overheating but maintaining at a comfortable level. Highly recommend.

I have been unwell for some time coming down with multiple things despite have long thermal tops and jumpers I always find the that my lower back and kidney area is cold, these have sorted that. I love them and wear them day and night. Now there are no drafts and my energy and immunity is back up, I am no longer cold. Recommend to all.

This is a great item for girls with bad periods. Keeps you warm without bulk. Material didn’t cause itchy skin.
