Designers Fountain 87004-WI 30in Darby 4-Light Bathroom Vanity Light Fixture, Weathered Iron

I like the look of these lights after spending too long to install them. (I didn't time how long installation took, but it was much longer than it should have been.) I'm not an electrician, so even though I've installed light fixtures in my every home and have a pretty good idea of what to do, I still read all of the directions. The directions that come with the fixture are next to useless. It does not help to know that A connects to C and D when you cannot see what A, C, and D are and there is no parts list. Still, changing a wall-mounted light fixture is not difficult when all of the parts work, but that's where the real problem is.The wall anchors for the mounting plate are insubstantial. They are so flimsy that they are prone to bending when inserting them into a hole, and then they didn't secure themselves but instead either went straight through the back of the drywall or pulled out of the front. The other problem is that the bolts on the mounting plate that run through the back of the decorative face plate (whatever it is called-I said I'm not a professional) and attach to screw-on caps apparently are not long enough to span the extra space created to accommodate the wiring. Once I had the first fixture wired and was ready to assemble the front and back parts, I couldn't get the caps to screw into place and had to disassemble it, find longer bolts that were just the right length to fit through the front and the right size to fit the caps without being too long, and start over. After all of that, when the globes were attached, the fixture pulled out from the wall just a bit at the top because the front and back plates do not interlock but are simply held together by the two bolts. The gap isn't noticeable when looking up at it from the floor, and I don't think the fixture will fall, but the light should be flush with the wall.My advice is to get your own anchors and change out the bolts that attach the two plates before you begin installation because after having learned what to do with the first one, the second fixture went up without trouble.After all of that work, they do look good. Remembering that they are designed to look old and weather worn, I do not see the cosmetic flaws in my two that several people have reported. The seeding in the glass is plentiful in each globe, the bottom grill stays on just fine if no one is messing with it, and even though one of the individual lamps was a little unlevel, I simply turned it until it was level enough.

I really love the look of this fixture. My husband did the install and had no issues. The bottom cage piece just slides on very loosely, but since the fixture is well out of the way, I don't foresee a problem with someone accidently touching one causing it to fall. The first set of bulbs we used were dimmable daylight Edison type bulbs from a big box store. The lights flashed and flickered, non-stop, so we returned and purchased a name brand dimmable daylight Edison bulbs. They work just fine. The 4 bulb fixture provides plenty of light and the seeded glass shades cast a pretty design on the ceiling. We are updating another bathroom and wish I could find 3 bulb fixtures just like these.

Loved it and the box was barely damaged

Aesthetically everything about this light is lovely. It is a nightmare to mount. The screws were a 1/4 too short when attaching the mounting bracket to the wall-this was discovered AFTER the light was up and wired. UGH. So the light was installed TWICE. After 90 minutes it is up and lovely. The bottom decorative bars at the end of the glass will have to be removed each time to change a burned out bulb. That will be a hassle since they do not come off so easily. I like things that are simple and pretty. This caused me more work than anticipated so I can only give it 4 stars. If I had more patience it would definitely have been 5 stars.Update- It took 30 minutes to get the the final decorative cross bar rings on. Each light fixture is actually 4 pieces- the inner ring, the seeded glass, the interlocking ring that slides over the glass and the final bottom piece. It is finally assembled but it will be a real hassle to change the light. I may take the bottom piece off since it looks fine without it. The instructions are not helpful since it is just a pictorial of how it all fits together which is obvious anyway. I have to downgrade it to 3 stars-too much money and too much time-both of which we all hate to waste. It does look nice but now I just get a bit annoyed looking at it.

I had bought a 4/12 deep medicine cabinet and this light said it is 7.50 deep. Well the lights did not go over this medicine cabinet so I had to build up the base with wood to match the hickory cabinet. Looks okay but not what I had planned. I should have figured out that 7.50 was not going to be deep enough. The light it self is nice. Your diagrams should put the depth to glass and total depth.

I installed this myself after watching a Home Depot YouTube video and following the instructions it came with. The instructions only really had visuals so it helped that I watched a video beforehand. I had never replaced my bathroom vanity lights before but it turned out to be very simple and it looks great.

I love this light fixture it looks amazing, great quality and price. It was very easy to install especially if you have an existing light you are replacing. I didn't have any of the issues other reviews stated. The only problem is the directions are terrible it is one very rough diagram. I had to look at the picture of the fixture on Amazon to figure out what order the glass and cage went on. Other than that I am extremely happy and will probably order this same fixture for my other bathroom. I would definitely recommend this to others.
