Perfect! Would buy another
I would recommend this as enthusiastically as is possible for a bookshelf. I have moved 9 times in the past 5 years and unfortunately most of my furniture purchases are determined by how packable the item is or a price point that won't provide much of a loss when I have to sell things or give them away. That said, I was impressed with this far beyond its ability to fold flat. It really looks great. I got the largest size and it took less than 5 minutes to pull it out of the box and to remove all the padding. You just pull the sides out and the shelves fall into place. No chips or cracks and it was packed very well. I did not buy the mantle top because I actually have my medium sized flat screen TV on the top shelf right now and use the bottom shelves for books. It seems like it can hold a good amount of weight and is almost impossibly sturdy for a folding bookshelf; it is, for sure, sturdier than other lower-cost build-it-yourself bookshelves I have bought in the past that begin to warp almost immediately. Even worse, those shelves sometimes rarely survive a move to another room of the house, much less a move to another home. It also came in two days!I bought the red and would definitely consider buying another one in the same or a different color in the future. The red is very nice - a neutral, very slightly muted red that's really attractive and actually contributes something to the room rather than just disappearing into the wall.I only bought one, so I can't speak to how stackable these are. I'm always a little uneasy with stacking shelves but if you follow common advice and are careful not to make them top-heavy, I think it would be fine since they're sturdy and don't warp like a shelf with cheap particleboard and cardboard backing might.

Very Nice Product
I was looking for a shelf to organize my gaming consoles and this fits the bill perfectly. It is made of solid, sturdy wood and will hold whatever you need. It required virtually no assembly which is fantastic. All you do is swing open the two sides and the three shelves then move downward into place. The only assembly required involves placing the six little wooden pieces over the screw holes. Three out of the six pieces I received did not fit into the holes and I had to shave down their edges a little bit to get them to fit. I still rate the product 5 stars however, because its overall appearance and build are both excellent. It sits evenly and doesn't wobble or rock.I've uploaded a photo of mine in use. It is the 27.5" Honey Oak version. That is a PS3 slim laying flat on top with some games and a controller charging station. (The PS3 will fit vertically in the middle or bottom shelf.) In the middle is a Wii with controllers, and on the bottom are tall gaming guides. The guides are a little less than 11 inches tall and there is just under an inch of clearance, so most books should fit just fine. There are about 11.75 inches of usable vertical space between the shelves, and right at 25.75 inches of usable horizontal space per shelf.Highly recommend.

Bookcases are great, mantel tops less so...
I ordered two of these narrow folding bookcases, one wide one, and mantel tops for all three to complement my white kitchen cabinetry and make my cookbook and vintage Pyrex storage/display uniform, instead of the hodgepodge of shelves I'd made do with for years. The shelves and tops are all solid wood, crisply painted, and the shelves are idiot-proof when it comes to assembly: 1. Stand it upright. 2. Unfold it. That said, though they're from the same Home Decorators manufacturer, the little pre-drilled holes on the mantel tops don't align perfectly with the pegs on the bookcases; the wide one was fine, but the narrow ones were askew and I had to bow the bookcase frames outward slightly to get the top to fit on all four pegs.Once I lined up the shelves together, only an obsessive would notice the discrepancy. A more determined person than I could also drill out the holes a bit to better align them...but I'm lazy, and for my purposes these worked out fine.

I absolutely love it
Okay, a disclaimer first- I don't use this to hold books on every shelf. I actually use it in my bedroom for a somewhat different purpose. On my top shelf, I have a zip-around 100-CD/DVD holder, my portable DVD player (for playing workout DVD's) & it's remote control. My second shelf holds seven hand towels for exercising (we all sweat, right? :), my workout clothes/sneakers & my bottom shelf holds family photo albums + a huge family Bible. So I haven't loaded it up w/ super-heavy items except on the bottom shelf, though my DVD player & DVD's are important to me, of course. This bookcase is the PERFECT size for my purposes in depth, width & height. It is nice that it comes in a variety of finishes & sizes. I measured the area I was putting it in first, so I knew exactly what size bookcase would fit in the space where I wanted to place it.I got this out of the box easily, unwrapped fairly quickly despite very thorough packing material & standing up for use in about five minutes. There is absolutely no assembly w/ this, and no tools needed, which was one of my requirements going in. I simply unfolded the mission-style sides, took out some styrofoam that helped protect the shelves, laid the shelves down into place, and put it up against the wall. It was very stable even when not standing up against a wall, which was impressive. I've owned a traditional bookcase (not folding, all wood, had a complete wooden backing & all), and it leaned more than this! I've also had another folding bookcase in the past (not this brand, and not mission-style), which was cheaper than this & worked great at first, but eventually got too wobbly & insecure to hold tapes & books. This is a bit more expensive than my previous folding bookcase, and while it's not too heavy for me to lift, I have to say that this feels more secure than what I previously owned, so the additional cost was worth it. There were no flaws anywhere on the wood, no chipped places, no scratches, the paint coat is very even all over, and there's no fading of the paint anywhere. I was really skeptical to buy furniture over the Internet and spending the money sight unseen on this was a little worrisome. But it turned out to be a great purchase. As soon as I have the money to spend on it, I'm going to buy one in a different color for my dining room, to hold my cookbooks, CDs & stereo!
