You're doing it wrong!!! -- This gizmo is an EXTREMELY HELPFUL TOOL at a fantastic price.

Works great, and the results match other calibration tools in my home theater. Also assisted in calibrating a commercial live-audio installation. Audibly helped the commercial system and I could easily visualize the changes. I would advise you to use an averaging tool in making the measurement (AudioTool has this option) as instantaneous reading of pink noise is not the easiest to see what is happening. For the purpose of doing frequency calibration of a stereo system, seeing the average of pink noise results is more helpful, and then use instantaneous to dig out things you hear or see.Who all those who blast this as: "This is a horrible microphone, my built in one is better" and the like, I'm sorry, but you have no idea what this microphone is for. You think this microphone is supposed to sound good, thinking that it has build built with "calibration". This is not a high-quality microphone (measurement-grade microphones don't come under $20, if even $200). This microphone has nothing fancy inside it. This is, however, a microphone what has been measured at a shiz-ton to frequencies to characterize the microphone's frequency response so you can have a reference point as to what you are measuring. Even if your reference is crappy, if you know what it is, you can make use out of it. What's the difference in amplitude between 4kHz and 30Hz on your iPhone/android's microphone??? You don't know. Even if one was measured for calibration offsets, do you really think every single unit will have the exact same response down to a dB? It MIGHT give you a ballpark... maybe.... if it's a full moon... wearing green??.Sorry for turning this into a rant. I just hate seeing an awesomely useful tool for <$20 that does what a RANE calibration system does for $500+ get blasted as being a crappy product. A wrench does a pretty lousy job of spreading peanut butter on toast-- if you use a tool wrong, you will likely get bad results. My Tools & stuff:This cool little cheap gizmoSamsung Galaxy S4 with Android 4.3 (Kernel 3.4.0-2015522)AudioTool appKlipsch RF-82II L/RsKlipsch RC-35 CYamaha Rx-775wa Amplifier

Best Bang for your Buck! Works Great

For the price, this microphone is great! I have used it to tune multiple vehicles since I got it. I use it with REW on my laptop and it works flawlessly. This is my first calibration mic, but I have done a lot of research online and there is nothing but great reviews on this mic. There are better out there, but not for this price point. Great entry level product for people getting into audio.

Amazing Quality for Such a Resonable Price

Not only is it great to get a calibrated measurement microphone for such a low price, but add in the fact that you can easily access the calibration curve for your particular microphone by inputting the serial number into a website listed in the manual, and you now have yourself an amazing piece of professional quality audio testing equipment that is unbeatable for the price.Upon receiving the package containing my microphone and some other items from Parts Express, I was immediately able to recognize that the microphone did not come in a cheap bag or box type package, but rather came in a nice brushed metal tin with a firm foam lining that fit the microphone very snugly. This case is suitable for long term storage of the microphone, and was a very pleasant surprise. It is also a great size for carrying just your phone and the microphone around in a pocket or two in order to do audio testing on the go.The microphone not only has a great rubbery feeling matte finish, but it also has a very high quality enclosure with no noticeable ridges or gaps such as many cheaper molded plastic items have. This rigidness is likely a large factor in the amazing quality of the microphone. When testing, even when holding the phone in my hand with the microphone hanging from the jack, facing an audio source (my new low cost studio monitor speakers that I am evaluating as well), I noticed no handling noise, and no static or crackles as a loose connection would indicate. The jack on the mic is also of good quality and has nice alignment so it does not stick out from the phone (or computer) at an odd angle.Using several free apps, I was able to utilize my iPhone and this microphone as a small audio testing station of sorts. With an audio sine wave sweep generator, and a frequency response app, I was able to look at how flat my speakers were with the position that they were in, and I was also able to detect how directional they are at high frequencies.I needed this microphone for an engineering project I am working on (studio monitor speaker isolation stands), and this saved me probably over a hundred dollars compared to buying dedicated audio testing equipment.Another wonderful feature of this microphone is that it offers a headphone through jack so that I can still play music or audio test signals on my phone while using the microphone with an audio analyzing app. I can also monitor the audio coming in when using certain apps. The mic can handle very high SPL without distorting, and overall I think that it is a great item worth purchasing for any audio enthusiast. If I were to lose the microphone or break it, I would buy another in a heartbeat.

Seems to work well.

I dont really know if this is a good mic or not. Using RoomEQWizard with it, it seems to show a good range. I honestly have nothing to compare it to though. Its got a config file (Downloadable) once you purchase it and get the serial number, that's supposed to adjust the error of it.As far as how it works on the iphone, I dont see any diff between the built in mic and this one. I also did not pay money for fancy apps, so basic dB apps, there is no diff from what I could see. Thats just what from I could tell, that doesn't mean there isn't a diff though. Given it comes with a calibration file and such, I would think it would have to be better than the built in mic.
